(5/5 stars) We recently spent a week at this gorgeous house and property located right on the ocean. The house is large, very well maintained and furnished…..including a beautiful, amply stocked, open kitchen; spacious bedrooms with very comfortable beds and ocean views; and a Carolina room for morning coffee and late night games. But the main attraction is the outdoor space (with a covered patio, hot tub and pool) and direct access to the pristine beach which is quiet and less crowded than most on the island. We had daily walks for miles in either direction. We highly recommend this property and look forward to a return. The host was super friendly, helpful, and consistently attentive in a way you rarely see. The house itself is huge, beautifully designed, and absolutely spotless. Everything is high-end, from the beds (incredibly comfortable) to the strong WiFi to all the thoughtful, kid-friendly touches that made traveling with our little one easy. The neighborhood felt extremely safe, with gated access and visible security. It’s quiet, very family-friendly, and totally walkable. The location is unbeatable: from the pool area, you're about ten meters from the sand. The home faces east, so we watched the sunrise over the water almost every morning. The private pool and hot tub were major highlights. The hot tub runs hot, everything was clean and well-maintained, and we used both constantly. As for the house, everything was immaculate and looked nearly brand-new. We had one tiny hiccup one afternoon when the outdoor lights wouldn’t turn on before sunset, but the host responded instantly and had it resolved within minutes. It actually reinforced how attentive and professional they were. We also took a short trip to Savannah, which was a fantastic bonus. The river walk, food scene, and the city’s classic historic charm made it feel like stepping into a beautifully preserved slice of the past, with its oak-lined streets and distinctive architecture. We absolutely plan on returning soon. (5/5 stars) From the moment I stepped into 34 Surf Scoter, I felt an immediate sense of home. The cozy furniture, beach-themed décor, and thoughtful touches throughout made me feel at ease. I’d say the highlight of the place is the floor-to-ceiling glass windows that open up to the ocean horizon. When I walked out the back door and passed the hot tub and pool, and followed the soft sand pathway, the gorgeous beach suddenly stretched out before me. Standing there, feeling the sand beneath my feet and the sea breeze on my face, I was overwhelmed with the beauty around me. Everything in the house is designed with care. The bedding is crisp and clean, the towels and amenities are fresh and luxurious. Yet, the space feels warm and lived-in, like a place where you can truly relax and be yourself. The layout is perfect for families or friends- expansive living and dining areas for gathering and laughter, and cozy, private rooms when you need a quiet moment. 34 Surf Scoter is THE place to stay when I want complete relaxation in nature without feeling like I have left my own place.
