Harbour Town Lighthouse
The 90-foot, red-and-white striped Harbour Town Lighthouse is the visual centerpiece of the popular Sea Pines Resort. Completed in 1970, this was the first privately-financed lighthouse to be built since the early 1800s. Visitors who climb the lighthouse steps will find an excellent spot from which to view Hilton Head Island.
Take the self-guided Legends Tour as you climb to the top of the lighthouse. Explore the Islands rich history and get the inside story on the creation of the lighthouse. See the recently added Civil War-era photographs and artifacts as well as the ancient artifacts dating back 3000 to 5000 bc. It’s all part of the new lighthouse museum displays.
Once you reach the crown of the lighthouse, you’ll find “The Shop at the Top,” where plenty of Harbour Town souvenirs abound, as well as exclusive collectible gift items.
