Perched high above the evening lights of Harbour Town and adjacent to the signature lighthouse, Topside captures breathtaking sunsets that turn the waters of Calibogue Sound to liquid gold, with a backdrop of orange and pink sky.

From this height and from three walls of windows, there are panoramic views of the marshgrass-edged 18th hole of Harbour Town Golf Links, the yacht basin with boats slowly gliding in and out of the harbour, the Harbour Town pier, a distant view of Daufuskie Island and of course, the waterscape of Calibogue Sound.

The superbly prepared dinners are as impressive as the vistas which are enjoyed from every table in the restaurant. Appetizers include Calamari Friti with spicy marinara and lemon-garlic aioli, Steamed Snow Crab and Crab Cakes, among other delicious beginnings. And give in to the temptation to savor the Topside Crab Bisque, loaded with lump crab and finished with aged sherry ... heaven! There are crisp and fresh salads including a Caesar, Garden Salad and Greek Salad. Then, are the entrees, where you'll be certain to find a favorite.

Topside has an entire section of its menu dedicated to Shrimp Specialties, including Crab Stuffed Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, Shrimp Fra Diavolo or our Lowcountry delicacy, Shrimp and Grits. Other sea fare includes Chilean Sea Bass grilled with ancho-honey in a miso-ginger broth, Baby Lobster Tails, Tuscan Salmon (a signature dish!) and several others.

Land Fare is not overlooked either, with mouthwatering selections like Grilled Filet Mignon, a Center Cut Pork Chop with pineapple salsa and mashed redskin potatoes, and more.

There are combination platters in addition to pasta and vegetarian creations, so truly something for any taste and any preference. Whether you save room for dessert or not, you must try the Blueberry-Lemon Crème Brulee or the Chocolate Lava and Raspberry Torte with vanilla ice cream. An inimitable wine list and signature Topside cocktails also enhance your dining experience.

Dark plantation shutters complement the quiet seafoam green interior, decorated by an award-winning local designer. Though the atmosphere is fabulous from floor to ceiling, which by the way is adorned with architecturally fascinating glass "sails," the dress is resort casual.

Some mariners wearing shorts join Topside straight from the bow of their boats, just having moored into the harbour; and golfers come over after finishing a round on the links. Topside is equally welcoming and appealing to families as to a couple having a romantic dinner.
